I and my wife purchased a TempurPedic mattress back in the early days when most folks had not learned of memory foam mattresses.

We live in an old period house and in a classic French Empire bed we slept for many years. We'd to have the mattress especially made to fit the bed because classic beds were never made to normal measurements. The mattress was made from internal- horsehair and springs, I consider. The mattress is still going strong, and has continued many years. To cut a long story short, another bedroom was redecorated by us, and we did it in the modern fashion. It's now our brand new bedroom; guests sleep in our old bed.

For the brand new 'modern-appearance' bedroom a low, Japanese design bed was purchased by us. When buying a brand new mattress for the bed, our provider advocated the TempurPedic mattress. Neither I and my wife had learned of it nor of the 'astonishing' brand new viscoelastic material it was made from. Not adverse to trying something brand new, we both went to a big department store, which was among the few places back then that carried the Tempur mattress; unlike now, where every bedclothes shop sells memory foam mattresses from other and TempurPedic.

I am only able to say it feels like no other mattress you have slept on, if you have never lain on a memory foam mattress. I can still recall how business it felt when we mould itself around us and laid down on it, just to feel it give way; like a huge, soft, sluggish sigh. A TempurPedic memory foam mattress does not have the springiness of conventional mattresses. But that does not mean to say it does not support you on the contrary, I and my wife both find the Tempur mattress to be tremendously encouraging.

Anyway, despite the first feel that was unusual of it's, we determined to purchase it. The guidance the sales person gave us also determined us. We were told because it moulded to your exact body contour how unparalleled support was given by the TempurPedic mattress; helping to avoid pressure points. The spokesperson also went on to describe how memory foam was the greatest sleep option for sufferers of back pain.

The first thing that hit me about the TempurPedic mattress was it was - about precisely the same weight as spring mattress and our horse hair. I could not comprehend why the mattress was not so light, as it was merely a ball of foam with anything or no springs!

Sleeping on the Tempur mattress felt a little odd at first; the deficiency of that feeling and springiness of slowly sinking into the memory foam. But it did not take all that long to get used to it and we have now been sleeping for 6 years on the Tempur mattress. When we do sleep on a normal mattress in a resort or relatives house, we both detect the traditional mattresses do not give the support that memory foam does - we are memory foam snobs.

And by the way, I consider my backache has been substantially enhanced since sleeping on a visco elastic memory foam mattress.

I have learned and read about some of the negative opinions some people have made about memory foam mattresses in general, or TempurPedic.

The first negative point many look to increase is the scent of the mattress when they choose delivery. It is accurate the mattress does have a marginally 'chemically' odor to it when it arrives. But after a couple of weeks, the odor goes away. I can actually say the TempurPedic mattress we purchased was less smelly than horsehair and the old spring mattress we had - and that was an excellent quality, high-priced mattress from a well known producer.

Additionally, some have maintained that its shape loosened after some time - drops appear, consequently losing any support you're supposed to get. Possibly, if individual sleeping on it, or the couple, are of a hefty build this might occur.

In general, my partner and I adore our TempurPedic mattress and would highly recommend another brand of memory foam mattress, or TempurPedic - though of course, we are biased and consider TempurPedic is the finest memory foam mattress you can purchase.
